What it is

A spending layer, not a payment method.

The Toku Card is how recipients spend their balance — not how you pay them. Payments still settle to the recipient’s wallet on stablecoin rails. The card sits on top of that balance, giving recipients instant access at any Visa-accepting merchant globally without converting to local currency first.

What it does. Issues a Toku-branded Visa card to recipients during onboarding. Recipients spend directly against their settled balance. Acceptance is global — over 150 million merchants — wherever Visa is accepted.

What it doesn’t do. The card isn’t the payment rail. Toku doesn’t pay recipients to the card. Recipients receive payment to their wallet, then spend that balance through the card. This separation keeps payment, custody, and spending as distinct layers.

Who it’s for. Contractors and employees in markets where local banking is slow, expensive, or unreliable. Especially valuable for recipients in Latin America who would otherwise wait days for an international wire to clear and then absorb FX conversion at withdrawal.

How it works

From onboarding to first purchase.

STEP 01
Recipient onboards
Standard KYC process during onboarding. The recipient verifies identity once. Subsequent payments and card issuance flow automatically.
STEP 02
Card is issued
A Toku-branded Visa card is provisioned to the recipient. Virtual card available immediately for online spend; physical card shipped where applicable.
STEP 03
Payment settles to wallet
Payroll runs on Toku settle directly to the recipient’s connected Rain wallet. The card balance reflects the wallet balance.
STEP 04
Recipient spends globally
Tap, swipe, or check out online anywhere Visa is accepted. The card draws against the wallet balance the moment it settles.
Why it matters

What the card solves that wires don’t.

// 01
Faster access to funds
No waiting for a local bank to clear an international wire. The card spends against the wallet balance the second payment settles.
// 02
Less dependency on local banking
Recipients in markets with limited or unreliable banking infrastructure can still spend their pay without a local bank account.
// 03
Global acceptance
Wherever Visa is accepted — over 150 million merchants — the card works with no country-specific friction.
// 04
Skip the off-ramp
Recipients don’t need to convert to local currency first. That removes a fee step and a delay step for every transaction.
// 05
One onboarding
The recipient onboards once. Card issuance, future payments, and spending all flow from that single setup automatically.
// 06
Toku-branded, Visa-issued
The card carries Toku branding while running on Visa’s settlement network. Recipients see a consistent experience.
