Country payout guides

How to pay contractors in Pakistan

To pay contractors in Pakistan, establish the engagement, agree how accepted work is priced, collect the required records, and confirm a supported payment route. For annotation teams, connect each payment to the tasks and bonuses that explain the amount.

This guide is an operating checklist for the business paying contributors. Country rules and route availability must be checked for the actual arrangement before launch.

What to check in Pakistan

The State Bank of Pakistan provides an account framework for freelancers that includes an Exporters’ Special Foreign Currency Account alongside a PKR account. That framework does not mean every contributor or payment route is automatically eligible. Confirm account type and receipt documentation with the bank.

FBR uses Iris for income-tax registration. Keep the contributor’s tax status separate from account verification, and do not promise that a bank’s receipt of the funds completes the contributor’s tax obligations.

Check the relationship before choosing task pay

Start by identifying the contributor’s province or territory and the relevant establishment. Pakistan’s devolution of labour responsibilities makes location part of the legal analysis; a single national contractor checklist is not enough. Assess the actual role under the applicable framework rather than treating freelancer banking eligibility as a classification decision.

Define the role you are recruiting in Pakistan: occasional labeling, regular quality review, or specialist work such as writing evaluation tasks. Document whether contributors choose tasks, whether you require fixed schedules, and how ongoing supervision works. Ask for a country-specific classification assessment of those facts.

Per-task compensation does not by itself establish contractor status. Agree acceptance criteria, rework, dispute handling, and bonus eligibility in writing. If your operating model changes, revisit the engagement rather than assuming the original agreement still fits.

Tax registration and reporting

FBR provides income-tax registration for individuals. Establish the taxpayer identity and the status relevant to the engagement before choosing the reporting workflow. Retain the service description and remittance evidence; a freelancer bank account is not proof that all tax obligations have been met.

Choose a route the contributor can actually receive

Start with the receiving account and the agreed currency. PKR is the domestic currency to consider, but the available settlement currency and route depend on the bank, contributor, provider, and applicable rules. Confirm those details before promising a payment method.

The options below are a comparison checklist, not a confirmed Toku country-coverage matrix. Agree the available route, recipient eligibility, fees, and settlement currency in your program setup.

Questions teams ask

Task-based pricing can be part of the proposed arrangement, but it does not settle worker classification or other local requirements. Assess the relationship and agree the payment terms before onboarding.
Confirm the route-specific estimate with Toku and test the full funding-to-receipt process. This guide does not publish a verified median payout time.
Incorporation and local tax or self-employment registration are different questions. Toku supports arrangements with individuals; the applicable local obligations still need review.
