How to pay contractors in Argentina

Paying AI contributors in Argentina starts with the contracting arrangement, local invoicing requirements, and a payment route the contributor can receive. Here are the country-specific questions to resolve before the first payout.

Check whether the work is a service export

ARCA describes service exports as independent services performed in Argentina whose economic use takes place abroad. For an AI training project, establish the contracting customer and where the service is used before deciding the invoice treatment.

ARCA’s monotributo guidance says eligible monotributistas can export services within the applicable revenue limits and use a type E invoice. Confirm eligibility and the export invoicing setup with the contributor’s adviser rather than assuming every contributor belongs in monotributo.

Coordinate the invoice with the payment schedule

ARCA requires a payment-date field on electronic service-export invoices. Give contributors a clear payment schedule and the correct contracting entity details so they can prepare invoices without guessing when or by whom they will be paid.

For task work, connect the invoice to an earnings period and an approved task statement. Show bonuses and adjustments separately, and agree how invoice corrections will be handled if an accepted amount changes.

Confirm currency handling before promising dollar receipt

Separate the currency used to price the work from the currency and account used to receive payment. Before promising USD receipt, ask Toku and the receiving bank to confirm the available route, documentation, and current exchange requirements for that contributor.

If conversion is involved, agree the conversion basis and fees in advance. Keep the contract, export invoice, payment reference, and amount received connected. An invoice in a particular currency should not be treated as confirmation that every payment route can settle in that currency.

How Toku handles contributor IP in Argentina

Toku’s contributor agreements include IP assignment for deliverables. We work through the rights your project needs, including use in training and evaluation, modification, and licensing or resale of datasets and software. The contracting arrangement should document how those rights reach your company, including any transfer through Toku.

Argentina’s Law 11,723 allows full or partial assignments but preserves author protections concerning attribution and the integrity of the work. Article 53 requires registration for assignments of literary, scientific, or musical works to be valid.

For expert explanations, evaluation materials, or software, identify the work and the rights your customer needs, then review the applicable assignment, permitted modifications, and registration steps with Toku and your legal team. Do not treat payment for a deliverable as sufficient evidence that every downstream right has transferred.

General information for teams planning contributor programs. Classification, tax, payment eligibility, and data obligations depend on the actual arrangement and applicable local requirements.

Questions teams ask

ARCA allows eligible monotributistas to export services within the applicable limits. Confirm eligibility and the type E invoice setup for the proposed work.
That depends on the supported route, receiving account, and applicable requirements. Confirm those details before offering a USD settlement option.
